What do you like most about the sport?

What I love most about triathlon is balancing the three disciplines. Coming from a running background, learning to run well off the bike was a big shift. Over time, I’ve built the strength and aerobic capacity to run close to my fresh pace, balancing the three discliplines keeps training varied and racing around the world a highlight.

Which result are you particularly proud of?

The race I’m most proud of is Melbourne 70.3 in 2024. I started with a flat Di2 battery, stuck in one gear (small ring, smallest cog). Despite that, I rode well, entered T2 in fourth (10 minutes behind third), and ran hard to close the gap—taking third with 10 seconds to spare. Not my best result on paper, but one I’m very proud of.

What do you do besides sport?

I’m a dad to two boys aged 8 and 10, and we enjoy family adventures, often at our holiday home near the sea where we relax and spend time on/in the water. I’m also a financial adviser running my own life and health brokerage, which gives me the flexibility to balance family and sport.

How do you manage to balance family, work, and sport?

The key is a supportive family, especially my wife, who understands the demands of race season. Being self-employed helps, but it still requires careful planning. I structure my week around key training sessions so I can stay consistent without compromising work or family time.

Describe yourself in 4 words.

Focused, reliable, driven, thoughtful

Your life motto?

Life isn’t linear. What looks like a steady climb is really a mix of highs and lows. The focus is on keeping the overall direction moving forward, even if that means stepping back at times to reassess and refocus.
