A stormy race ended with a gold medal!
The Wörthersee Aquathlon this year was also the venue for the Carinthian Championships. The race started earlier due to a storm warning, the 1000m swim course in the beautiful bay of Strandbad Klagenfurt was challenging due to the relatively high waves and contained a short run section followed by a jump from the bridge back into the water. The swim was followed by a 5000m run across the paved beach promenade, containing grass and gravel surfaces. Mathias achieved the fourth place in the Carinthian Championships overall and won gold in his age group
