Favorite Race

I don't have a favorite race, but I do have a place and this is Klagenfurt. In Klagenfurt, I took part in my first duathlon and my first triathlon. After many years I also started working there and later joined Pewag Racing Team.

What do you like most about the sport?

I love triathlon because of the variety of sports, or several different sports combined in a single race and the possibility of competing in different lengths, variants (aquathlon, duathlon, triathlon...) and also because of the variety of the trainings itself and the coordination between them.

Which result are you particularly proud of?

I am very happy with each completed race. But I would highlight the 2007 IM 70.3 World Championships in Florida, where I finished the race in 15th place in the 30-34 Age-group.

Even more than all the races so far, I am more proud that after a break of almost fifteen years from training and competitions, with the help of my coach Rene Vallant and the team in Klagenfurt, I returned to this wonderful sport.

What do you do besides sport (job, family, ...)?

As a construction engineer in head office in Klagenfurt, I am constantly active on the projects in Austria and Slovenia.

I dedicate all my free time to my two daughters and my wife. Except in winter, we spend a lot of time in Haloze (a hilly area in north-eastern Slovenia) in our vineyard where we grow Sauvignon and Yellow Muscat.

How do you manage to balance family, work and sport?

With discipline and organization of the days and with the lot of help and support of my family.
