Athlete information
I started triathlon because I was getting fat when I was younger so my older brother who was in to it took me out on some runs. I then started to do teams events and in high school started competing individually in Triathlon, duathlon and Multisports. I then studied Chemical and Material Engineering at Auckland Uni and during that time I won the 20-24 world long distance champs when I had just turned 20 so I finished my degree then turned pro. My first pro year in 2012 was not great as I was hit off my bike by a car at the Strat of the season and it took 10months to get over the injury/surgery. 2013-14 I mostly raced the non-drafting OLY races in the USA then moved to 70.3 and finally Ironman.
I like that you get to stay fit and healthy and challenge yourself. Plus travel the world to beautiful places and meet lots of new people.
